The Cynthia Lynn Corbin Health Fair was established in 2024 to honor the legacy of Cynthia Lynn Corbin, a West Baltimore community health advocate and long-time member of the Church of the Holy Trinity, Baltimore.
The inaugural health fair was held on May 11, 2024, and was enthusiastically received by the community.
In August 2025, the health fair was combined with the annual Unity in the Community event to increase exposure and attendance for both community events. The combined event was successful in reaching its goals of attracting a larger and more diverse segment of the surrounding community.
Planning is currently underway for the 2026 Annual Cynthia Lynn Corbin Health Fair/Unity in the Community event which is scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026.
About Cynthia Lynn Corbin (1949-2023)
Cynthia Lynn Corbin, a Baltimore native, knew, from an early age, that she wanted to be a nurse and serve those who were often ignored and underserved. To reach that dream, she attended the Helene Fuld School of Nursing at Provident Hospital (Baltimore) and the University of Maryland, where she earned the B.S. and M.S. degrees in nursing. She subsequently became certified as a Nurse Practitioner.
Cynthia wore many hats during her nursing career.
She was instrumental in starting the Hospice Unit at the Visiting Nurses Association (VNA).
She was a Med Surgical Nurse at Provident Hospital, Hospice Supervisor for the VNA, the Hospice Clinical Director at the 1515 North Avenue Men’s Clinic and an adult primary care Nurse Practitioner at three Parkwest Medical System locations.
While doing all the above, she opened and operated the Jabez Clinic in housing adjacent to the Church of the Holy Trinity (her church home since childhood) on Wheeler Avenue.. The Jabez Clinic, opened on two Saturdays every month, served many people in the community.
Although the Jabez Clinic eventually closed, Cynthia had realized her dream of giving health care both on her job during the week and in her community clinic on the weekends.
