The Episcopal Church, like many other protestant denominations, has a diverse membership and a broad range of beliefs. The official theology of our church is found in the Book of Common Prayer. One way we describe ourselves is that, “We worship according to what we believe”. Our theology is expressed in our worship. For example:
Scripture
We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testament to be the word of God and to contain all things necessary to salvation. (Ordination Service, Book of Common Prayer, page 526)
Baptism
“. . . in it we are buried with Christ in his death. By it we share in his resurrection, through it we are reborn by the Holy Spirit. (BCP page 306)
The Ministry
The ministers of the Church are lay persons, bishops, priests, and deacons. (BCP, page 855)
