Daphne Hicks

Daphne Hicks maintains that she is grateful to have been chosen to be a caregiver for 30 years. At the age of 12, her caregiving journey started at a Baltimore nursing home. Daphne is a certified wellness coach and has certifications in primary aerobics, Pilates, and restorative yoga. She holds three Zumba licenses, is a line dance instructor and a self taught Dance Minister. Daphne has been blessed to have many professional and volunteer experiences. She has been a wellness and fitness coach for 18 years, currently teaches several fitness classes a week and participates in many events throughout the year. She also teaches liturgical dance at the Sisters Academy of Baltimore.Daphne has received many awards and recognitions for her professional and volunteer work, including becoming the first female and youngest President of the Panway Neighborhood Improvement Association. In 2016, she was the recipient of the Maryland State Physical Fitness Excellence Award. In 2019, she received the prestigious Mother Lange Leadership Award from the Archdiocese for her many years of work with the St. Peter Claver and St. Pius V Catholic Church’s health and wellness ministry. Daphne graduated with honors holding a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Management Science from Coppin State University, with a 4.0 GPA holding a joint Master’s of Science in Human Services Administration from Coppin State University and the University of Baltimore. She carries a 4.0 GPA where she is currently a doctoral candidate from Walden University majoring in Human Services (Leadership and Program Evaluation). In addition, she is a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success. She attends St. Peter Claver Catholic Church where she serves on the dance ministry, coordinates the Health and Wellness Ministry, and is an advisor for the SFJ (Stepping for Jesus) Step Team. With the grace of God, she has been married for 36 years. In addition, she has worked in various capacities with the City of Baltimore for 38 years and currently serves as the Director of Administration for the Health Department’s Bureau of Maternal and Child Health. Daphne often finds herself amazed at the many gifts with which God has blessed her and is ever so grateful to share them with others. She gives God all the Glory and is grateful for the opportunity to share her experiences.
