As part of its Public Education Services, the Baltimore City Fire Department (BCFD) offers free Hands-Only CPR Training to teach citizens how to respond to cardiac emergencies. Hands-Only CPR is a vital, life-saving skill that can be used to keep someone alive until BCFD Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel arrive. It does not require mouth-to-mouth breaths.
Completion of Hands-Only CPR training is a graduation requirement for all high school students in the State of Maryland.
BCFD/EMS personnel regularly visit community groups, schools, and local health expos to provide these interactive, dummy-based training sessions. They have been regular attendees at the Cynthia Lynne Corbin Health Fair and Unity in the Community and conducted a special session during the 2024 Caregivers’ Workshop.
