During the summer 2024, the Empowering a Healthier Community Outreach Ministry (partnering with Blessings in a Backpack*) provided shelf-stable foods for children at risk for hunger over the weekend during the 10-week summer break. Upon recommendations from the staff at two neighborhood schools, a select group of students were identified and invited to participate in the program, originally called “Blessings in a Bag.” About 30 families chose to participate.
Holy Trinity Church volunteers packed and distributed the bags every Thursday (July 4th distribution was the day before) from June 20 through August 22, 2024. Many thanks to everyone!
